Junk Your Gas Guzzler? - Kiplinger.com

By Mark Solheim

There's nothing like $100 fill-ups to put your big bruiser on the endangered list.

Large-SUV sales have plummeted 30% this year, large pickups have dropped 22%, and nonluxury large-sedan sales are off by 24%, according to J.D. Power and Associates.

Motor City can't shut down truck and SUV assembly lines fast enough, and General Motors may put the suddenly uncool Hummer brand on the chopping block. Owners of trucks and SUVs are trading them in (when the dealer accepts them) at a breakneck pace.

Six Essential Money Skills - Kiplinger.com

Exciting Announcement on New Financial Education Tools!

Collegedale Credit Union is proud to announce our new online tools to help you educate your children about personal finances. As part of our CU Succeed teen accounts we now offer you the unique Chore and Allowance program that makes managing chores and allowances fast and easy for any parent. This tool not only makes it easy to keep track of your child’s chores, but allows you to teach your child how to earn, save and budget money so that they can develop smart financial habits to carry them into adulthood.

How does it work? Using advanced technology, parents can submit household chores online, designate a dollar value for each chore, and provide a financial reward when chores are successfully completed. Each of these activities is tracked on the Collegedale Credit Union Chore & Allowance website. You can use this website to establish what expectations your child needs to meet in order to receive his or her allowance. You can even set up the system so that your teens are sent text messages to remind them about their remaining chores.

In an ongoing effort to help more parents educate their children about earning, saving and spending money, Collegedale Credit Union is excited to bring you these cutting-edge online services. We want to give you the tools you need to help you educate your children about smart money management. For more information on the programs, click on the link to the right to be directed to the Chore and Allowance program website.
